Frosé (Frozen Rosé)

Hi Everyone!

Summer has almost arrived and we here at Vinotopia have discovered our favourite way to beat the heat – Frosé (or Frozen Rosé). Last weekend we stumbled across this delicious concoction at Wine Island (thank you 6ft6) and we had to try it. It was one of the best decisions we made that day!

It combines the wonderful flavour of rosé and summer fruits, and is conveniently put together in a slushie. Which is perfect for those hot summer days.

It is super easy to make and doesn’t require too many ingredients. We found this wonderful recipe at Bon Appéttit.

The things that you will need include:

  • 1 Bottle of your favourite rosé
  • 1/2 Cup of Strawberries
  • 1/2 Cup of Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of Water
  • 1/3 Cup of lemon juice
  • Crushed Ice

Firstly, pour your rosé into a pan or plastic container and freeze it for at least six hours. It should be noted that the rosé will not completely freeze due to the alcohol.

To create the strawberry sugar syrup boil ½ cup of sugar and ½ cup of water in a saucepan. Stir continually for about 3 minutes or until the sugar dissolves. Add the strawberries and remove the saucepan from the heat. Cool for 30 minutes to infuse the syrup with the strawberries. Strain the mixture through a sieve into a bowl. Then cover and chill for approximately 30 minutes.

Then all you need to do is pop your frozen rosé into a blender, add the lemon juice, a handful of crushed ice and sugar syrup and blend until smooth. You can be very creative and add a range of flavours. 6ft6 included vanilla essence into their slushie, but you could also include lime or other fruity flavours.

If you’re unhappy with the consistency and desire it a bit more ‘slushie-like’, put the mixture back in the freezer for another hour and blend again.

Once you’re happy with the consistency pour it into your glasses, decorate with fruit slices, mint leaves or a cute stripey straw and enjoy!
